The District has many positive attributes and provides an educational experience that meets or exceeds State standards. I recognize and strive to enhance the opportunities provided to students. The biggest opportunity is to stay ahead of the growth in our student population by: • Ensuring facilities are available to provide a productive learning environment, • Keeping pace with technology needs, • Provisioning of a multi- faceted curriculum that meets current and future needs of students; including those identified as gifted and those with special needs. • Providing an educational experience that goes beyond “mandatory state testing”, • Effectively communicating the needs of this growing school system with all residents of the district and sharing how improved schools benefit everyone, • And finally, maintaining fiscal responsibility and accountability. I will continue to work with local officials, community and BOE members in a positive manner to assure our student success.
I am active in the community and accessible. I have four children and three grandchildren who have graduated from Bloom Carroll, along with four grandchildren currently in or joining the schools next year. I am a retired nurse administrator from the Ohio Department of Health, Children with Special Needs (BCMH). In this role, I worked with the Department of Education, and other programs that impact the lives of children. I have 30 plus years of administrative and budget experience. I have worked with the legislature at local, state and federal levels to advocate for the needs of children and their families. My commitment to children provides the foundation for my goal to continue to serve as a member of the BOE, as an advocate for our children and grandchildren, and for all residents of the district. I am not afraid to take on and address issues. I work collaboratively with all parties to address the educational needs of our children.
I believe each child can and will be successful if given the opportunity to access a quality education in an environment that is conducive to learning activities. If re-elected, I will continue to support and bring expertise to the BOE in areas of special needs programming, budgeting, program planning, and policy development. I will also bring an understanding of the needs of our community and a proactive approach to working with the district leadership, staff, community members, parents, and most importantly, the students. I would like to thank the community for providing me the opportunity to serve the school district and our children over the last eight years, and I look forward to serving another term.
