I believe my unique set of experiences has fueled my desire for Granville to be a leader, working in partnership with the region, to ensure infrastructure and policy best suited to help rural citizens and protect our rural landscape. My passion comes from the mothers I met through preschool, the farmers I grew up with through 4-H, and entrepreneurs in our community. I care about the process of democracy and know leadership is a privilege. After working as a civilian for the Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center in the field of epidemiology, I found my true passion advocating and advancing rural communities. Most of my work has been centered on creating economic opportunity for small businesses around local food. I spent the past three years establishing the Canal Market District in Newark. I wish to build more opportunities to do the same. I believe in the development of infrastructure and policy best suited to helping rural businesses and protecting our rural landscape.
Key Issue 1: The 30 Year Plan – Develop a citizen task force to engage in smart growth conversations around the county working through issues associated with anticipated increase in population and the effect on our schools, roads, revenue, open spaces, and infrastructure. My goal is to work in direct partnership with leadership throughout the county in order to create a long-term community action plan. Therefore, maximizing shared resources, infrastructure, funding, and growth opportunities.

Key Issue 2: Targeted Economic Development – Currently, we disproportionally fund our community through residential property taxes. I wish to lessen the revenue burden of Granville citizens through development of commercial ready sites. The township has zoned property for commercial use but these sites lack water and sewer to attract small to mid-sized commercial businesses. I propose we look to other Central Ohio communities, who have developed partnerships between township and village to ext
I firmly believe Granville’s strength comes from a strong history of citizen engagement. I have spent the last five months sitting down with leadership and community members to hear from them and I believe we can move Granville Township forward towards a strong future by more deliberatively involving them in a process focusing on where we want to be in thirty years and how we want to shape our community, our landscape and our economy. Just like my work in establishing the Canal Market District in Newark, OH I do not pretend to come to the table with all of the answers. Instead, my greatest strength comes in my ability to bring experts to the table and bring the best out of people’s skillsets in order to achieve common goals. If I am elected you can assure I will be a tireless advocate for our rural community.
