I understand what it means to be a civil servant, and take pride in working for the government and helping people. Plain City is on the cusp of potential high growth and development. Since moving here in 2009, I have found ways to involve myself in the community. I am currently President of the Uptown Plain City Organization, a volunteer group that promotes our uptown with several annual events, and facilitates grant programs for facade and business improvement that uptown business and building owners are eligible for. I am also a member of the Planning & Zoning Commission (since 2013), and actively serve on the steering committee for the Plain City Comprehensive Plan. I will use my planning, zoning, and leadership experience to help to prepare Plain City for responsible growth while keeping our small town charm.
The major issues in Plain City are the conditions of our uptown and our infrastructure, pressures from development, lack of job opportunities in the Village limits, and lack of housing options. If I am elected, I will be in tune with the Comprehensive Plan, which is expected to be adopted in 2018, and will map out the improvements elected officials can make to improve our community. I will advocate for office and industrial developments that will create jobs for our residents, and for housing alternatives so that our young residents can stay in their home town, find good jobs, and afford to live here. I will explore options for upgrading our uptown streetscapes and look for resources for our building owners to improve their properties. I will ensure that our infrastructure is intact and improved in order to allow for responsible growth of the Village.
I have the planning and zoning knowledge, leadership skills, and local government experience to help Plain City transition from being a village into becoming a city. I will do my best for our residents to promote controlled growth, including increased housing and employment options, with a focus on responsible spending, and infrastructure and uptown improvements.
