1)Economic Development - We need a true focus on economic development especially on the East Side of Lancaster. I will work with City Officials as well as the Finance Committee to develop a budget that will allow us to provide that focus. 2)Property Values - We need to maintain property values and not let homes or businesses sink into disrepair. I will work with City Officials to ensure that we have a strong Code Enforcement Agency with the power to bring about change in this area as well as develop legislation for stronger standards. 3)Security & Safety - People need to feel safe and I will work with and support the local Police and Fire Departments to ensure that we have a strong foundation to provide that safety.
1)The Opioid Epidemic - This is a real problem and we need to start educating our young people sooner rather than later. I will work with Charitable Organizations such as Tyler’s Light and newly developed organizations like Hustle Hope to help promote drug education to our children and young adults in an effort to reduce the effects of this terrible epidemic. 2)Roadblocks for New Businesses - We need to work to remove roadblocks and make it easier for people to open new businesses in Lancaster. I will work with City Officials in an effort to remove these roadblocks and reduce fees associated with opening a business. 3)Poor Road Conditions - We need to work to improve the condition of our streets. Many of the roads in Lancaster are in need of repair. There is a plan to repave them with the help of state funding but I would challenge local officials to try new methods of evaluating which streets should be repaved and look for alternative methods of repair until they can be repaved.
I intend to bring a fresh perspective to City Council and think outside the box rather than do things the way they have always been done. With my 25+ years in Sourcing and Procurement Services, I have learned to deal with many diverse groups of people and have developed a passion for fixing problems. A key component in solving problems and negotiating with others is to gather as much information as possible about the problem you are trying to solve and listening to all the parties involved in order to reach a mutually beneficial outcome. I plan to apply that skill when elected.
I am a hometown girl. I was born and raised in Lancaster in the 5th Ward, graduated from Lancaster High School, and received both my Associate and Bachelor degrees from Ohio University. While my career took me away from Lancaster for several years, I came back and moved literally a stones throw away from where I grew up. I love this city and really want to make a difference. I humbly ask the people of the 5th Ward to afford me this opportunity by casting their vote this November for me.
