I have run my own business for over 25 years and understand what is required to meet a budget and spend resources wisely. I have been the chairman of the Finance Committee on City Council for the past four years and have gained an excellent understanding of the funding issues and spending concerns of the City. I also have 28 years of military experience which is invaluable in leadership decisions and building consensus on Council.
First, is funding City operations. Our income tax is low (1%) and so we must plan and spend smartly and efficiently. Second, we must manage growth in the City. Council has begun that process by appointing a commission to study growth and development. Third, we must continue to work to make our City attractive to business development.
I have been honored to served as your Councilman for the past 4 years. I have learned a lot about you and our City. I will use that knowledge going forward no matter what the results of the election. I believe I have kept my campaign promises from 2013 and respectfully ask for your vote in November.

I believe I am the best candidate because of my experience and knowledge of the workings of our local government. I am known to not shy away from issues and work hard for the best outcome for our residents.I am a conservative and believe in basic services.
I believe it is of utmost importance that the elected officials of the City be good stewards of public funds. We need to be aware and promote good economic development as well as controlling the growth of our City government
In November of 2016 an opening on the SWLCSWD opened up. Since earlier in the year Members of Pataskala City council talked about attempting to get better communication between the district and City. Recently the district and City had spent over 150,000 in attorney fees. It was suggested that I be appointed to the Board in an attempt to create a better relationship. It was believed that I could sit on Council and The Board at the same time. However an opinion from the Cities law director said I could not. In the best interest of the residents and the City I resigned my seat as your ward 3 representative to sit on the Southwest Licking Community Sewer and Water District. I am pleased to announce that the City and The District are working well together. In June, the legal council for the District wrote an opinion that there was nothing prohibiting me from serving on both boards. Thus my decision to run again for Pataskala City Council. I supported the initiative to build the new Police Station, Re-vamp Main Street, and build the Taylor Road walking Trail. Each of these were done through sound budgeting and no raising of taxes. I supported the AEP addition to the corporate park and introduced legislation to stream line and simplify the building code. As Pataskala’s fire board representative on the WLJFD I voted for and helped establish a new fire station (4) serving the entire west end of Pataskala. I love this community and I have a long history of working with the people in it. I have served as both the Vice-President and President of City Council. I have chaired the Utility Committee for four years and I was elected Vice-President of the West Licking Joint Fire District. During that time I have focused on innovative solutions to the problems faced by a growing city. I am fiscally responsible, but I try to remember that a city government is there to provide quality services and protect its citizens.
Issue #1: Development: This city is going to encounter significant development in the next four years. With two new high schools and development pushing in from the south and the west it will change our city. Our current comprehensive plan was written by local college students, for free in the mid 2000’s. We need a new comprehensive plan and we need to continue to work to update and fix our zoning code. While I believe that growth is good, unchecked chaotic growth is not.
Issue #2: Infrastructure: Roads, Water, Sewage and Drainage. We have addressed the worst of our roads but there is still plenty to do on that front. We need to continue to prioritize and make sure our road program is strong. As chair of the Utility Committee I will continue to address concerns about ageing sewer and water services in a growing city. Drainage problems are a problem throughout Pataskala and one that many citizens don't know about. We need a plan to address areas where drainage issues exist
I am extremely honored and humbled to be endorsed by every sitting member of Pataskala’s City Council. Not a common thing in this city! I believe that happened because I constantly work to find common ground, communicate, and work with my fellow council members to solve problems. Pataskala is a wonderful city!! The next 4 years will be very challenging and exciting. We face issues in Development, Parks, Police, Utilities & Streets, to name a few! , I personally believe that our Mayor, Administration, Police and City Council work well together and truly care about Pataskala. I ask that you allow me to serve this great community for another 4 years!

As a current Pataskala Council at Large Representative, I have used my professional expertise and personal experience for the benefit of our city, community and residents. As an example, I have focused on promoting community business growth, establishing partnerships and the building of an economic foundation in our city. In addition, I served as President of the Charter Review Committee (2010, 2015), and as President of the Pataskala Recreation Association (2009-2015), a local non-profit. Through all of these positions, I have used my ability to identify a problem, to provide a productive strategy and to implement positive solutions in these environments.
The primary issue facing our community is the active and pending development that is occurring and affecting Western Licking County, which in turn is impacting our Pataskala Community. These outside pressures require effective decision making with a current knowledge base regarding core development practices, cost effective methods, and a specific focus on transitional opportunities and growth. My professional background as a Civil Engineer and an Attorney in both residential and commercial development will provide Pataskala with an effective insight into this issue. Correct and knowledgeable decisions regarding our unique rural to urban transition will be paramount as we set our course for the future.
The secondary issue facing our community is the inner pressures created by limited funds but required necessary improvements and upgrades to our utilities, roads and public services, specifically parks. These pressures present a challenge that I plan to meet with hard work and focus.
If elected, my number one priority will be to look to opportunities of smart balanced development for Pataskala that sustains and promotes our unique urban and rural city dynamics. Fundamentally, I will continue to build our future through improvement of city services offered to our residents by focusing on innovative ideas leading to positive, community centered solutions.
