I would like to see an improved technical/trade school program in conjunction with the development of an advanced placement program. Working closely with local businesses, the district could prepare students for quality careers straight out of school. In tandem, the advanced placement program would put students on track for college after high school. Newport has been persistently losing enrollment (and the funding that follows students) for decades, and I believe that these two programs could give students a reason to stay in district and more importantly give children pathways to success. The constant loss of students will be a major challenge for the district to face in the future.

Also, I'd like to see Newport teachers get a raise. Newport receives more money per student than any other district in Campbell County, but our teachers rank near the bottom in average pay. We must put more focus on attracting and retaining the best teachers.
As a father, an engineer, and a Newport small business owner, I feel that I have motivation and a broad skill set that would be beneficial on the school board. With all three of the schools in Newport's district ranking in the bottom five percent of Kentucky schools, the district needs a level-headed, pragmatic problem solver, and my experience in business and engineering have helped me develop the skills needed to compliment the existing leadership with a new perspective.
