I have worked with cities and counties from Madera, Fresno, Tulare, and Kings Counties on various energy issues over the past six years. I have close, working relationships and bring those to the table. I have partnered with the South San Joaquin Division of the League of California Cities, as well as, the San Joaquin Valley Regional Association of California Counties. Partnerships should be established for attracting large businesses to Tulare County, as the County is doing with all eight of the cities in Tulare County, but specifically Visalia, to attract Nordstrom’s e-commerce center.
I have no problem with our county rejoining the EDC however, there should be performance standards that need to be met and funding could be based on a sliding scale depending on how many new businesses there are as a result of the EDC and how many jobs have been created.
I completely and fully support Sheriff Boudreaux and District Attorney Tim Ward civil gang injunction program throughout the county. We need to develop more “safe zones” for children and their families. There needs to be a greater emphasis on after school programs and holding parents responsible for the actions of their children. Getting to the root of the problem begins at home. We need to identify the problems of poverty and ignorance and determine what is needed. Then we must engage community and faith based organizations to assist the county and target the needs of the children and families.
Without water there is no life. The State of California needs to step up and help us solve this problem in our county. We were asked to support a water bond that seems to care more about fish than people. I would start with a thorough analysis of the costs to clean up or provide new water delivery system. Once it is determined there is a solution that is cost effective then I will engage our State elected officials and demand solutions and funding. If they do not offer their assistance, I would have to consider litigation against the State.
I was born and raised in Tulare County and I am not a politician. I am a 5th generation farmer for who is also working in the power industry as an energy efficiency advisor for PG&E. My background in business and agriculture gives me a unique a local and global perspective on issues facing our county. Most of all, I have been dedicated to Tulare County for my entire life. Whether it is through my church or community organizations, volunteerism is very important to me and I know it is making a difference in our county. I am the only candidate to take a tough stand on government wasteful spending and to develop a plan for more and clean water for farmers and families, a tough stand on gangs and know what it takes to create jobs because I understand what businesses deal with when either they are expanding or locating in our county.
