Experience (35 words max) 14 years as deputy sheriff. 20 years as a probation officer. 18 years as a county commissioner. Pastoral ministry for 7 years.
Education first. Teacher pay must be competitive and teachers must empower our children to be ready to walk away from school either ready to go to work or to further their education.
It has to be mandated by the legislature or there will be those who will not comply. As a state we must look at all people as being human beings and entitled to the same rights.
Neither of the current political parties can be trusted to do what is right concerning redistricting. I feel an outside agency should do the work and of course approved by the legislature.
First, make sure there are teacher assistants in the classrooms or decrease class size with additional teachers. Schools should be funded by curriculum and not by population.
I haven't given this much thought. It's easy to create a board with too much power outside intended purpose.
I am against off-shore drilling. NC has too many natural disasters, we don't need the threat of man-made disasters.
