I will work to provide quality education for all children regardless of race, region, or socioeconomic status, ensure that all schools provide a safe environment for children, physically and emotionally, and strengthen the local workforce pipeline through CTE education.
America was built by immigrants; I will always advocate for equal access to education for all students. Additionally, I support implicit bias training for all administrators, teachers, and support staff.
Our teachers should be armed with educational resources and funds to educate our children, not guns.

I would like to move the BOE meetings to different schools around the county, provide teachers with a supplement from the county to pay for supplies within their classrooms, and work on long term solutions to address the overcrowding issue in New Hanover County Schools.
All students already possess a legal right to a quality education. Quality includes freedom from harassment and discrimination. A zero tolerance policy against such behaviors must be adopted and enforced.

1. Redistricting to end the inequality in opportunity for students. 2. The school's administration should be more transparent and improve communication and cooperation with the community. 3. Our schools need more resources in order to provide students with a quality education.
School Board members need to adhere to the current federal and state laws that protect all students’ rights to equal access to a quality public education. Any complaints of discrimination need to be thoroughly investigated.
I am totally against this action. Teachers are professional educators, not law enforcement officers.

My top priority is to expand access to public preschool in New Hanover County. Students who attend preschool are put on a path of success, both during their academic career and afterwards. Kindergarten readiness can shape their future and change the outcome of their school experience.
Every student is valid and deserves access to quality education, regardless of immigration status. All students have the right to enroll in public education, and nothing should impede their access to education.
I do not believe that having educators armed and trained to kill students makes our schools safer.
Experience (35 words max) I served New Hanover County Government in financial and managerial positions for 25 years. Education was the top priority. I was elected to the Board of Education in November 2014.
1. Continuation and success of SEATEC. The business connection/mentoring phase for juniors and seniors is critical. 2. Communication and transparency of Board & organization with students, parents, citizens and staff. 3. Student safety including mental health, security, and staff training.
New Hanover Schools utilize policy 8020 regarding discrimination of students. The school system cannot ask immigration related questions and follows Plyler Versus Doe (1982) as well as the 14th Amendment.
Do not support.
