Experience (35 words max) currently serving 3rd term on Board of Commissioners, Town of Fountain, and as mayor pro tem & library and recreation commissioner
• economic development pursued with smart planning • county-wide access to public transportation • increased pay & benefits for public school teachers
County should assist rural communities & residents with administering single-family residential rehab programs. Small towns especially lack the resources to partner with NCHFA in administering these loans.
• a more comprehensive public transportation system to make jobs (and health care) more accessible to rural residents • target HBCUs in NC in job recruitment • develop internship programs with local high schools
County's current relationship appears appropriately respectful of the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th amendment
• body cameras on all responding officers • continued respect for open records laws • continued respect for Equal Protection Clause of 14th amendment, which protects against racial profiling
Experience (35 words max) As a former small business owner, former town commissioner, a parent of a child in middle school, and a resident of Pitt County for 37 years, I have the experience, energy, and work ethic to fill the seasoned shoes of retiring County Commissioner Mark Owens.
Education, Teacher Retention, and Public safety are paramount in creating a community that grows in the right direction.
As a county we should make sure that all policies are fair to everyone and do not discriminate.
I will make sure that Pitt County has all the tools necessary to be successful. I will take a hands on approach to bringing jobs to Pitt County and making sure they are equally available to all citizens.
Federal immigration enforcement is not the job of a county commissioner.
Body cams will protect officers and citizens and ensure transparency.
