One is to ensure economic development and growth in order to keep our county diverse, where anyone of any age can live comfortably and achieve their dreams. It is important to attract new businesses in our county.
The County needs to make sure the community is aware of issues of affordable housing. Seminars would be helpful from mortgage lenders and other federal agencies to let people know what the products are available.
The commissioners need to work with the County’s Economic developer to research what kinds of businesses and infrastructure the county needs to promote employment for people of all ages.
The County Commissioners do not have a collaboration agreement with federal immigration.
It is important to have open communication among the department, public and commissioners to know what is needed in the community.

To strive for local control. We are increasingly losing self-government to overbearing Federal and State bureaucracies.

A second priority will be bringing wired high speed Internet to our rural citizens who currently do not have affordable high speed access.
This is not a direct function of County Government. Areas may have affordable housing (Detroit, MI for example) yet there is little desire to live there. Fiscal/Developmental/Environmental policies are key.
Affordable wired (fiber optic cabling) high speed Internet to all Pamlico County homes and businesses is now essential to job development and equal opportunity.
It is imperative that Pamlico County co-operates with Federal Immigration enforcement.
If the press/media does not fulfill this responsibility, it will be incumbent on each and every one of our County Commissioners to keep the citizens of Pamlico County informed.
