Experience (35 words max) I am a retired teacher with over 30+ years of experience; I've worked in the capacity of teacher's assistant, English teacher, and curriculum specialist. I am married with two children who are also GCS teachers.
My top priorities are to ensure that our schools are safe and nurturing, to use my 30+ years of classroom experience to help lift student achievement in every corner of the district, and to recruit and retain highly qualified teachers.
Equal access to learning for undocumented and other students is very important. The district's DACA resolution and current anti-discrimination policy ensure that all students are safe and supported in GCS.
As a retired teacher married to a Sheriff's Office Captain, I strongly oppose arming teachers.
Experience (35 words max) Through my professional career and advocacy work, I acquired professional skills and a knowledge base needed to be an effective leader. I have advocated for a multitude of educational issues at state and federal levels.
Acquiring and retaining strong teachers is essential to move the district forward. Focus on students’ social and emotional needs and stress the value of a strong education. Expand our Career Technical Education, today’s high tech industries provide students solid jobs.
Children should feel safe. We need to strengthen efforts with our immigrant families, children with learning disabilities and our children with social and emotional concerns utilizing laws, policies and programs.
Teachers are educators, not officers with extensive training and experience with dangerous situations
