Experience (35 words max) Military- U.S. Army. Education-Guilford College, A.A. and B.S., UNCG, MPA. Employment-31 year Career Police Officer including 16 years as Chief of Police. Four term NC State Representative, Guilford County.
Adoption of a budget providing fiscal stability, continuing provision of programs and services to assure NC is a leader. Continuing transition of the criminal justice system, assuring public safety, enabling appropriate re-entry, post-sentence,to a productive life.
The level of wages should primarily be driven by the market. It is appropriate to promote pay equity across race and gender for the same job.
Development of a true party-neutral commission that must rely on geographical and numerical factors rather than political or philosophical factors.

I am most concerned with the NC Legislature’s lack of support for our public schools and with the fact that many people are struggling with health care costs. Health care is not available at all for too many North Carolinians.
The legislature should raise the state minimum wage and address equity, so people can live with dignity. The same work should receive the same pay, regardless of race or gender.
We need an independent redistricting process, one that moves the responsibility from those who stand to benefit from the outcome.
Raise per pupil spending and teacher pay to the national average. North Carolina used to be known for its educational excellence. I’d like to see us there again.

Our coastline is one of our best assets and must be protected from off-shore drilling.
