Vocational Education: Allocating funding through public/private partnerships to implement programs allowing all students the opportunity to receive a trade/vocation certification upon graduation providing more employment opportunities. Crime: Develop strategies addressing Crime which assists in promoting economic development in our county.
Implement a minority housing initiative, in conjunction with “Poverty to Promise,” leveraging Public/Private, State & Federal partnerships to address Affordable Housing. Work with Banks & Non-profits to ensure they know about funding opportunities for low-income housing projects.
I would like to implement “Poverty to Promise;” An initiative to reduce and/or eliminate generational curses of poverty by pairing applicants to companies providing training and employment opportunities.
I understand our sheriff’s department’s positively dealing with this issue on a case by case basis. I will have to research comparing our treatment to other counties around the state.
Sheriff Auten & his department are accessible & accountable. Change can come by working with municipalities to have more community presence, meetings & conversations to build better rapport with the community.

Clean/Safe & Affordable Water- Work with Mayors. Education- Work closely with Rowan County Salisbury Schools.
Financial Literacy First Time Buyer Program-using vacant houses for first time buyer program; Homeowner Credit Repair Program-fico score/fiscal accountability; Preserving, Protecting, and Expanding-this program would protect our seniors/veterans; Home Investment Partnership Program
Financial literacy education - available as early as middle school, more training. Student input on jobs. Offering incentives to business owners, employee benefits & hourly raises. Better jobs for veterans and felons.
I think that that our County needs to focus on how to build, serve, and maintain community relationships. County help legal immigrants get their illegal immigrant family members registered properly.
I will ensure that the SD has policies that build trust and show legitimacy with all communities. Ensuring efforts to convey information to media serving non-English speaking populations.
