Experience (35 words max) Master’s Degree in Social Work from ECU in 2010. As a therapist I work to heal women, men, and families that struggle with mental health and substance use issues. Empowering others is what I do.
Areas of focus include mental health, addiction treatment/reform and poverty. In an era of unprecedented levels of addiction, we must focus on treatment options. Poverty impacts over half of Wayne Co. who are living 200% under the federal poverty line.
The most important thing our legislature can do is increase minimum wage. It is important for NC legislature to take the lead on creating pay equality.
I would advocate for the creation of a bi-partisan panel of equal representation of Republicans, Democrats, and independents. Thus, assisting in the development of non-gerrymandered districts that represent constituents fairly.
The top priorities for me would be to protect public school funding and increased resources for students and teachers.
Focus should be on creation of a joint community task force with equal members.
I’m against off-shore drilling. Our coast must be protected for the future.
