Experience (35 words max) I have been a licensed attorney since 1986, leaving the NC Department of Justice in 2014. As a trial attorney, I learned the values of preparation and research in every area of life.

Public Education is a right guaranteed to every child. It should include a fully-funded universal Pre-K program.

Fair Elections. The system of partisan and illegal racial gerrymandering must end. Voters should have a voice.
Raising the minimum wage and insuring pay equity should have been done long ago. Government needs to take the lead.
The best way is to establish an independent redistricting commission that takes all partisanship out of the process. If the Federal Court Special Master can draw fair maps, it can be done. Fair elections demand fairly-drawn maps.
The first action must be to dismantle the voucher system and invest that money in public schools. The second action would be to fully fund universal pre-K.

Absolutely. Each community should have the right to represent its residents in a way that is best for them.
Off-shore drilling should never be done. Period.

*Complete implementation of Raise-the-Age by funding the transition of 16 and 17 year olds from the criminal justice system to the juvenile justice system. *Increase funding to programs to protect our drinking water from emerging contaminants, like GenX.
While concerned that raising the minimum wage law in NC will actually result in the loss of jobs, I support the legislature promoting pay equality across race and gender for the same job.
We need a nonpartisan redistricting process, and I've been the lead sponsor of legislation to do that in the last three legislative sessions.
