Experience (35 words max) I have served as sheriff of Guilford Co for 24years. The Sheriff’s office is nationally known and respected and during my tenure has decreased crime by 65% as verified by NC Department of Justice.

We are already doing it. We have established a model re-entry program used by others that deals with substance abuse, family interaction, social skills, mental health, job skills, and job placement.
Law enforcement officers are required to uphold the laws of the land and enforce the Constitution. I would expect my officers or any officers to do no less than that.

I would ensure the jail classification system properly identifies dangerous inmates (e.g. gang members, violent crimes, mental illnesses, escapees, etc.) from non-violent inmates (e.g. trespassing, worthless checks, child support, etc.) and perhaps increase family visitation.
I believe there should be a clearly defined Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) listing the release conditions for anyone verified as an “illegal immigrant” arrested on local criminal charges.
