We need an immigration policy that keeps our country safe and makes our economy strong. That means we should both strengthen our borders and encourage the best and brightest who study in the U.S. to stay here and create their companies and jobs here.

Nobody who works full time should live in poverty, and it’s wrong that full-time minimum wage workers earn less than $15,000 per year. People, like nursing home workers and daycare providers, should not have to live in poverty for the work they do.

We need to combat terrorism to keep Americans safe. We must do so carefully and maintain a balance between giving our military and intelligence agencies the tools they need to protect us, while not compromising the ideals that make America great.

I am opposed to NSA’s collection of law-abiding Americans’ private information and cosponsor the USA FREEDOM Act, which would reform the program. Agencies must have the tools they need to keep us safe, but we must not sacrifice our civil liberties.

The new law doesn’t contain costs enough for small businesses and families. I've worked with Republicans to lower costs while holding insurance companies accountable so they can’t deny coverage for pre-existing conditions or for people who get sick.

Creating a clean energy future would generate millions of jobs, help our economy, and improve our lives. We can lead the way if we recognize the intersection of environmental sustainability, economic growth, national security and public health.

The system is broken. Reform is overdue. It can be accomplished in a respectful way, but only after the border is secure. While amnesty isn't an option, the status quo isn't either. I intend to be part of a solution that promotes the American dream.

California’s minimum wage already exceeds the Federal standard. I place a greater importance on creating high-paying, full-time jobs and growing the middle class by reducing taxes and spending, and repealing Obamacare.

Terrorists have killed thousands of Americans, and have vowed to do so again. Drones are an effective tool to eradicate terrorists and keeps Americans out of harm’s way. To protect our freedom, our military must be the best-equipped in the world.

The intent of the NSA is to protect Americans. It can’t be allowed to skirt the prohibition of unlawful search and seizures provided to Americans via the Fourth Amendment. I strongly believe the NSA requires greater oversight and accountability.

Obamacare is too costly and a job-killer, resulting in higher deductibles and premiums, while millions have lost their plans and their doctor. We need a market-based system that is accessible, affordable and allows for pre-existing conditions.

We must protect our environment for future generations. While there is a debate as to what extent man influences global warming, excessive regulations cost jobs. We can ensure clean air and reduce energy costs with market-based solutions.
